Schools Water Efficiency Program (SWEP)

Helping Victorian schools find leaks,
save water and promote water education

  • What is SWEP?

SWEP is a free Victorian Government initiative that monitors school water use and alerts schools when there is a leak

  • How it works?

A digital data logger is installed on the school water meter.

Data is sent to the SWEP web portal, where schools can view water use.

Leak alerts are sent to schools when high or unusual water use is detected.

  • Education Resources

Students can learn about water efficiency with SWEP’s curriculum-aligned primary and secondary worksheets and activity guides

  • Benefits

Big bill savings – SWEP schools are saving on average $1,500 per year by finding and fixing leaks early

SWEP takes care of monitoring – smart data and alerts take the guesswork out of asset management, saving schools time and effort

Contribute to water security for your community

SWEP never takes a break – 24/7 monitoring even during school holidays.

A SWEP leak alert during school holidays led to the discovery of an underground leak, saving the school over $5,700 in avoided water bill costs.
